Week of Jan 23~27, 2017

Language
The Letter was Ww. 
Identify: This week we identified sounds and words that starts with Ww. 
Group activity: We read letter Ww book. We did letter Ww worksheet and whiteboard tracings. 

Hands on activity: We also made "Walrus” craft. 









Inquiry


After the winter vacation, we started to focus on "How we express ourselves". Subtopics of this theme are music, dance, art, drama and different cultures' celebration. During study of these topics, we also prepared year end performance with these subtopics. We decided first choice of drama for year end performance,  the story is "We are going on a bear hunt". Last week, we decided how we will perform the story. In this manner, children are singing the story as group and they are playing various instruments. 













We decided some instruments such as xylophone, castanet, triangle, maracas, snare drum and large drum. We checked their sounds and tones. We discussed placement of instruments in story respect to how they conveyed feelings to us. Everybody chose their instrument and we started our rehearsals. 


Snow play

After snowfall, we met with sunny weather and played with snow at outside. We had so much fun. 













Center time

We prepared various centers such as play-doh, kinetic sand, rice and chickpeas, feel the cups, alphabet, art and creative centers.Students played at these centers together for collaborative working, sharing and team work skills.

Week of Jan 16~20, 2017


Language

The Letter was Vv. 
Identify: This week we identified sounds and words that starts with Vv. 
Group activity: We read letter Vv book. We did letter Vv worksheet and whiteboard tracings. 
Hands on activity: We also made "Volcano" science experiment which we made model from clay and jar then we add vinegar, food coloring and baking soda. Mixture came out as lava shape. We had so much fun, it was a nice experiment.

PE

Warm up: We did exercises to make all muscles work and let them be ready. We moved to activity.

Rope walking: We used rope and walked slowly on it.
Then we walked backwards slowly on the top of the rope.
Kids tried to balance walk while holding hands. 
Stress of activity: Walk slowly with head erect and eyes looking straight ahead. 
Feet should be in contact with rope for good kinesthetic and tactile input.

Snow play

After heavy snowing, we had a large pile on our playground. We went outside and had so much fun.
