October 23-27, Mission completed : Inquiry topic Sharing The Planet Part I

This week, we had busy and full of fun week before fall break.We celebrated 4th birthday of Yuzuha. We celebrate Yuzuha and her family once more. We issued another two posts about Nanakita Koen visit and costume day. Please visit them for respective stories and albums.

Also we had a cute visitor, Hureyre chan (Ms Yesim's cat). Children got jubilant and thrilled to see a living cat in class. Reason of the visit was Sharing The Planet-Other Living Things topic. As we mentioned in other topics, we also studied other living things on the earth in Sharing The Planet topic. They are humans, plants and animals. We reviewed our topic with Hureyre chan's visit and growth of previously planted grasses. Children brought grass men to home, please help children to look after grass men. We also checked our grass growth experiment, they checked status of grasses and they could observe that even if one basic need is missing, growth can not be accomplished. Therefore we learned importance of air, food, water, light and space. Children thought about conservation and share of natural resources. Children can distinguish living and non living things through the needs. We enjoyed this topic much and we will start "How we organize ourselves" topic after fall break.

今週は秋休みを目前にしてお楽しみが満載の忙しい１週間となりました。まずは柚葉ちゃんの４歳の誕生日をお祝いしました。柚葉ちゃん、そしてご家族の皆様、改めましておめでとうございます。

また今週は可愛らしいお客さん、ミス・イェシムの愛猫のフレイーレちゃんを１日クラスに迎えました。自分たちで育てた草と実際の猫を目の前にして課題研究の総まとめをした子供たちは大喜びでした。持ち帰った鉢植えは引き続き各ご家庭でお子様方がお世話をできるように励まして頂ければ幸いです。

草を育てる実験では、育ち方をそれぞれ比べ、成長に不可欠な条件が一つでも欠けると成長に支障が出ることを確認しました。子供たちは酸素、食べ物・水・光と住む場所の大切さについて学び、今回の課題研究を通して資源を守り、世界の人々と分かち合うことについて考える機会を持ちました。何が必要かによって、生き物とそうでないものを区別することができるようになりました。今回の課題研究は皆楽しんで取り組むことができました。秋休み明けには「私たちの身の回り」という新しいテーマで課題研究を進めて参ります。
